Communication skills: A scout to discuss important and sometimes sensitive topics, both in person and writing.
Interpersonal Skills: Scouts work with a diverse range of people.
Research: Scouts use the internet and other data sources to find and assess players.
Computer Literacy: As well research, computer technology is valuable for creating engaging reports.
Administration: Administrative skills are required to keep good records and secure sensitive data.
Networking: Strong professional networks enable a scout to collect key information on teams and players.
Report writing: The heart of the scout’s role is reporting on teams and players to club officials. A scout needs to be able to report in writing, and ideally using multimedia content like video clip too.
Time management: Scouting requires the ability to priorities tasks and carry them out efficiently.
