The 4 types of Data Used in Technical Scouting

Traditional Scouting Data

As well as written narratives, traditional scouts can produce numerical reports by assigning players a score for each of their technical abilities and psychological strengths. This numerical data can be used by technical scouts.

Physical Data

This includes anthropometric data such as height, weight and body type. It may also include data about fitness and athletic ability gleaned from tracking data.

Event Data

Event data captures individual player actions, such as a successful tackle or a shot on target. It can be used to calculate “aggregate event data,” like a player’s pass completion rate.

Tracking data

Tracking data continuously records the position of each player on the pitch. It can be used to calculate player statistics like distance covered, average speed, and sprinting bursts.
